Reba Plays The Opry, Brooks & Dunn Want To Hear Something Country – Today In Country Music History

Brooks & Dunn wanted to hear something “Country” on this date in 2005, Hank Williams Sr was immortalized in bronze 1998, Reba McEntire debuted on the Grand Ole Opry stage in 1977 and more.

Here’s the list for Today In Country Music History for 17 September, 2012.

  • Brooks & Dunn‘s “Play Something Country” claimed the top of the Billboard chart in 2005.
  • The Country Music Hall of Fame unveiled a bronze statue of the late Hank Williams on the 75th anniversary of the singer’s birth in 1998. His children, Hank Williams Jr. and Jett Williams, met for the first time at the ceremony.
  • Hank Williams Jr.‘s Greatest Hits album was released in 1983.
  • Reba McEntire made her Opry debut in 1977.
  • Loretta Lynn‘s first appearance at the Grand Ole Opry was in 1960.
