Pistol Annies Are Hell On Heels, Trace Adkins Joins The Opry – Today In Country Music History

The Pistol Annies released their first album on this date in 2011, Trace Adkins joined the Grand Ole Opry in 2003, Eddie Rabbitt was “Drivin’” his life away in 1980 and more.

  • Pistol Annies‘ debut album, Hell On Heels, was released digitally in 2011.
  • The Pocahontas Village Board in Illinois voted to rename the town’s Pocahontas Community Park as Gretchen Wilson Park in 2004.
  • Trace Adkins joined the Grand Ole Opry in 2003. He was officially inducted by Ronnie Milsap and Lorrie Morgan.
  • Billy Dean‘s debut album, Young Man, went gold in 1994.
  • Patty LovelessWhen Fallen Angels Fly album was released in 1994.
  • Eddie Rabbitt earned a Number One on the Billboard country chart with “Drivin’ My Life Away” in 1980.
  • Glen Campbell‘s Rhinestone Cowboy rode to Number One on the Billboard country chart in 1975.
  • Johnny Cash climbed to Number One on the Billboard country chart with “A Boy Named Sue” in 1969.
  • “It Wasn’t God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels” by Kitty Wells became the first Number One country hit by a woman in 1952.
  • Eddy Arnold‘s Number One single, “I’ll Hold You In My Heart (Till I Can Hold You In My Arms),” charted in 1947.
