Kelly Clarkson Stands Up for Gay Marriage, Supports President Obama

It’s that time of year: election season. Amidst debates, early voting and an onslaught of news reports about the presidential candidates, celebrities are choosing sides and Kelly Clarkson is among them. As an open supporter of gay marriage, the pop singer has gone on record saying that she’ll vote for President Barack Obama on Nov. 6.
“Iâve been reading online about the debates and I’m probably going to vote for Obama again, even though I’m a Republican at heart,â she revealed (according to MJs Big Blog). “I canât support Romneyâs policies as I have a lot of gay friends and I donât think itâs fair they canât get married.”
Plus, the sometimes country crossover star dished that although she isn’t a feminist, she doesn’t appreciate Gov. Romney’s policies on women’s rights.
âObama is a great guy. Iâve met him and Iâm a fan of Michelle too. She has been busy promoting better education and healthy diets, which is something we could all use a dose of reality on,” Clarkson added.
So there it is! Apparently for Clarkson, gay marriage is a hot-button topic. She joins Carrie Underwood and other country stars like Reba McEntire in her support of equal rights for homosexuals.
Currently, Clarkson is spending time in the U.K. while on tour. The tour closes on today (Oct. 20), with a final performance in London. Looks like the ‘Mr. Know It All’ hitmaker will get back to the states just in time to cast her vote.
