A Wichita Falls man was robbed at gunpoint Monday morning (8/22) while he was outside working on his truck at his house in the 2400 block of Talunar Ln.

The victim told police that a tall black male in his 30s or 40s approached him and asked for money. The victim told the man he did not have any money and that's when the suspect pointed a handgun at the victim and threatened to kill him.

The victim took off running toward the 500 block of Filmore and found an officer patrolling the area. He flagged down the officer and told him he had just been robbed at gunpoint.

Police searched the area, including two vacant houses, and located a man inside an attic crawlspace of one of the vacant houses in the 2400 block of Talunar Ln. The man matched the description of the suspect the victim gave. Police also found a handgun in the attic.

After he was arrested, 41-year-old Jimmy Downing admitted to police that he had the handgun and that he had gotten into an altercation with the victim.

Downing was taken to the Wichita County jail and charged with aggravated robbery, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and criminal trespass. His bond has been set at $46,000.
