This is just ridiculous.

Wichita Falls resident Adam Brungardt has got quite the rodent problem on his hands. "Over the summer I know I killed over 120 rats in my backyard,"  Adam told KFDX.

Adam says the huge rodent problem near his house has also attracted rattlesnakes to feast on the buffet of rats.

Adam believes the giant juniper shrubs behind his house are responsible for attracting the animals. He says he and few of his neighbors made several attempts to get the city to maintain the shrubs but were unsuccessful. Adam then began to trim the shrubs himself.

"I've been slowly trimming them for seven months and we got a phone call today from the police department about felony vandalism," Adam said. He said police called and told him that for three trees the damage amounts to $17,000. Adam also says that police told him this morning that an arrest and felony vandalism charges were possible.

Adam only trimmed the shrubs himself because no one from the city ever got back to him. Parks and recreation director, Jack Murphy said, "I had no contact so I don't know who he tried to reach. I think it was reported just yesterday."

"I'm just trying to keep my family safe and control the rodent population," Adam said. "I'm kind surprised that if the city won't help us out that they're going to come after me for trying to take care of what they should've already done."

Adam says he was later contacted and was told police will not pursue felony charges but a fine is still possible.
