Vince Gill Gets The Gold, Hank Jr. Settles Down – Today In Country Music History [VIDEO]

Vince Gill picked up a gold album on this date in 2006, Hank Williams Jr. was singing about his Rowdy – and not so rowdy – Friends in 1981 and Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs began their Columbia Records association way back in 1950.

Here’s the list for Today In Country Music History for 21 November, 2011.

  • Vince Gill picked up a gold album for his four-disc boxed set, These Days, in 2006.
  • Alabama claimed the top spot on the Billboard country singles chart with “I’m In A Hurry (And Don’t Know Why)” in 1992.
  • Lynn Anderson earned the only platinum album of her career for Rose Garden in 1986.
  • Hank Williams Jr.‘s “All My Rowdy Friends (Have Settled Down)” climbed to Number One on the Billboard country chart in 1981.
  • George Jones‘ recording of “A Good Year For The Roses” charted in 1970.
  • Flatt & Scruggs cut their first sides for Columbia Records in 1950.
