The world of comic book films is a virtual mine field of rumored and fantasy casting, and a recent interview has just added fuel to the fire of rumored casting for the role of Wonder Woman.

Since her first appearance as Lady Sif in Thor, Jaimie Alexander has been a dream casting for the role of Wonder Woman.  Many fans have argued that while DC Comics and Warner Bros. have maintained that it would be difficult adapt Wonder Woman into a believable and successful film or TV show, Marvel beat them to the punch with Alexander's performance in Thor.  Heck, just look at the screen shot above.  If that's not Wonder Woman, I don't know what is.

Over the weekend, Alexander took part in Stan Lee's Comikaze Expo, participating in an AMC panel where she not only confirmed Marvel's intention for a third Thor film, but also that she's been in discussion with both Marvel and DC, or "both companies" as she put it, about upcoming superhero projects.  The moment she mentioned DC, the only thing that would make sense would be Wonder Woman, a rumored character in the upcoming Superman and Batman team-up film.  When pressed further for what potential conversations she's had with DC and Warner Bros., Alexander said,

I would love for DC to put Wonder Woman in one of their upcoming flicks, either in her own movie or Batman vs. Superman, or just something even to introduce her. … Being in the comic book world, we know a lot of the same people at DC and Marvel, so we hear a lot of things, but it’s all speculation right now. But I would absolutely love that [Wonder Woman appearing in one of the upcoming films]. Thankfully and gratefully, I’m appreciative to the people who ask my opinion of the character, and that’s been pretty amazing.

While still in the rumored stage, a lot of people are taking this statement as that Alexander has first-hand knowledge of Wonder Woman being in Batman vs. Superman.  Honestly, this would be the best casting for the role of the Amazonian princess.  The only other name thrown around recently has been Fast and Furious star and MMA fighter Gina Carano, who definitely would have the physicality to play the role, but Alexander has proven herself with not only the physical side, but also the acting ability to hold her own against Ben Afleck and Henry Cavill.  Here's hoping this becomes more than just a rumor very soon!
