Cat lovers may have just found their perfect vacation destination. The island of Aoshima, in Japan, is sometimes known by another name: Cat Island. The population of humans on the island is only 22, but the number of cats is over 120.

That's right, cats outnumber people nearly 6 to 1 on Cat Island. Originally, cats were introduced to the island to get rid of mice on the fishing boats. Over time though, the mice problem went away but the cats didn't leave.

They now have basically taken over the abandoned houses and the streets of the town. It's hard not to think about the story of 'The King, The Mice, and the Cheese.'  Maybe the island just needs to bring in some dogs.....
