The Judds Know Where They’re Going, Garth Brooks Crashes The Party – Today In Country Music History

Garth Brooks crashed the final concert at Shea Stadium on this date in 2008, Eric Church released his first album in 2006, The Judds knew where they were going in 1987 and more.

  • Garth Brooks was a surprise guest at the final concert at New York’s Shea Stadium in 2008, singing “Shameless” with the night’s headliner, Billy Joel.
  • Eric Church‘s debut album, Sinners Like Me, was released in 2006.
  • Rodney Atkins‘ album, If You’re Going Through Hell, was released in 2006.
  • Darryl Worley‘s debut album, Hard Rain Don’t Last, was released in 2000.
  • The Judds‘ “I Know Where I’m Going” hit the top spot on the Billboard country chart in 1987.
  • Columbia Records dropped Johnny Cash after 28 years on the label. He found out by reading it in the newspaper.
  • Alabama climbed to Number One on the Billboard country chart with “Feels So Right” in 1981.
  • Roger Miller made his first appearance at Number One on the Billboard country chart with “Dang Me” in 1964.
  • Connie Smith made her Grand Ole Opry debut in 1964.
  • Kitty Wells‘ Number One single, “It Wasn’t God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels,” charted in 1952.
