The state of Texas has decided on a nearly one-million dollar fine against Blue Bell over the Listeria outbreak that halted the ice creams production last year.

According to KPRC, Blue Bell's potential fines total $850,000. $175,000 will be due within 30 days, with the remaining amount suspended pending Blue Bell's completion of certain criteria over the next 18 months.

In the deal reached between Blue Bell and the Texas Department of State Health Services, the company must notify DSHS of any positive Listeria tests in thier Brenham plant, state inspectors must have full access to the plant for the gathering of samples, and all ice cream must be tested clear of pathogens before it is sent out to be sold. This criteria was laid out by DSHS when Blue Bell resumed production after last year's outbreak.
