Meet Bruschi. He's a four year old black and white Boston Terrier named after former New England Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi, and his eyeballs are HUGE.

Bruschi's owner, 18-year old Victoria Reed from Grapevine, Texas, managed to get him certified by the people at Guinness World Records as the dog with the world's largest eyes. Bruschi's eyes are a whopping 1.1 inches in diameter.  It may not sound like a lot, but when you see the photo you understand just how big his eyes are.

Reed found Bruschi while working at Operation Kindness, a no-kill shelter near Arlington, Texas. She said she noticed his enormous eyeballs right away, but didn't realize that they were record-breaking size.  Reed tells the Huffington Post,

The eyes are big on a Boston Terrier anyway, but when I'd bring him out in public, people would say, 'Wow, he has huge eyes. My vet joked a few months ago about submitting his photo to Guinness and I just went for it."

Reed says that as soon as she found out about the world record (Wednesday, May 23rd at 2 a.m.), she told Bruschi the news and claims that he was happy about it.  She says,

He started barking, he shook his body. He can't shake his tail because it was broken and then set wrong."

Reed says that she wants to use her googly-eyed dog's new celebrity status for good, she says,

I'd like to raise awareness about Operation Kindness. I would also like to meet the world's largest dog and other dog record holders."
