  • Shania Twain spoke to fans for the first time about her split from Robert John “Mutt” Lange in an online letter in 2009, saying she was “inspired by my pain to write.”
  • Terri Clark became the first Canadian-born female to join the Grand Ole Opry in 2004.
  • A three-mile segment of Highway 92 in Paulding County, Georgia, was renamed the Travis Tritt Highway, honoring the county resident, in 2001.
  • LeAnn Rimes performed the national anthem at the Ballpark at Arlington when the Texas Rangers hosted the San Francisco Giants in the first interleague game in baseball history in 1997. The Giants won, 4-3.
  • Crystal Gayle charted her first Number One country single in Billboard with “I’ll Get Over You” in 1976.
  • Dolly Parton recorded “Jolene” at RCA Studio B in Nashville in 1973.
  • Tex Ritter joined the Grand Ole Opry in 1965.
  • Ferlin Husky joined the Grand Ole Opry in 1954.
