Taylor Swift Wins Four, George Strait Checks Yes … Or Was It No? – Today In Country Music History

One year ago today, Taylor Swift (This year’s CMA Performer of the Year) took home 4 CMA awards, Carrie Underwood was at the top of the charts with a song about cheating boyfriends on this date in 2006 and George Strait was singing a musical question in 1995.

Here’s the list for Today In Country Music History for 11.11.11.

  • Jason Aldean‘s duet with Kelly Clarkson, “Don’t You Wanna Stay,” was released to radio in 2010.
  • Taylor Swift won four times during the 43rd annual Country Music Association Awards at Nashville’s Sommet Center in 2009, taking Entertainer of the Year; Female Vocalist; Album for Fearless; and Music Video, for “Love Story”.
  • Taylor Swift‘s Fearless album was released in 2008.
  • Carrie Underwood claimed the top of the Billboard country chart with “Before He Cheats” in 2006.
  • Montgomery Gentry earned their first gold single for “Gone” in 2005.
  • Dixie Chick Emily Robison and her husband, Charlie, welcomed son Charles Augustus Robison in 2002.
  • George Strait‘s single “Check Yes or No” hit Number One in 1995.
  • Reba McEntire signed her first recording contract with Mercury Records in 1975.
