Taylor Swift was in love on this date in 2008, Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan started a tour together in 2004 and the Dixie Chicks got up in Toby Keith’s face in 2002.

Here’s the list for Today In Country Music History for 06 August, 2011.

  • Taylor Swift shot her “Love Story” video in Nashville in 2008.
  • Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan launched their first joint concert tour, playing minor league baseball parks, beginning with at stop at Doubleday Field, in Cooperstown, New York in 2004.
  • Dixie Chick Natalie Maines took aim at Toby Keith‘s “Courtesy Of The Red, White And Blue” in the Los Angeles Daily News in 2002, saying, “It’s ignorant, and it makes country music sound ignorant… You’ve got to have some tact.”
  • Garth Brooks‘ mother, Colleen, died in Oklahoma of throat cancer in 1999.
  • The Wynonna album was certified triple-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America in 1993.
  • Hank Snow, Lefty Frizzell, Eddie Dean, Freddie Hart and The Collins Kids performed the first-ever country concert at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl in 1955 with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra.

Considering the nearly 5 and a half MILLION hits this video has had, I think Toby came out on top!
