Taylor Swift Grabs The Grammies, Tom T Hall Goes To Jail – Today In Country Music History [VIDEO]

Taylor Swift won Grammy after Grammy after Grammy after Grammy on this date in 2010, Toby Keith and Willie Nelson teamed up with an unlikely pair for CMT Crossroads in 2004 and Tom T Hall spent a week in jail back in 1970.

  • Taylor Swift won four times during the 52nd annual Grammy Awards in 2010 — Album of the Year and Best Country Album for Fearless and Best Country Female Vocal and Best Country Song “White Horse.”
  • On the eve of the Super Bowl, Toby Keith and Willie Nelson performed in a live installment of CMT Crossroads from Houston with Aerosmith members Steven Tyler and Joe Perry in 2004.
  • Alan Jackson‘s father, Eugene Jackson, died of an aortic aneurysm in Newnan, Georgia in 2000.
  • Tim McGraw‘s Not A Moment Too Soon album was certified quintuple-platinum in 1997.
  • Garth Brooks sang the national anthem during a pre-game show that also featured Tanya Tucker, Billy Burnette and Fleetwood Mac at Super Bowl XXVII at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California in 1993.
  • MCA Records bought ABC Records in 1979, gaining such top country artists as Barbara Mandrell, Roy Clark, Freddy Fender, and Donna Fargo.
  • Tom T. Hall appeared at Number one on the Billboard country chart for the first time with “A Week In A Country Jail” in 1970.
  • Merle Haggard recorded the Number One single “The Legend Of Bonnie And Clyde” in 1968.
  • Porter Wagoner & Dolly Parton recorded the Top 10 single “Holding On To Nothin’” in 1968.
  • Kitty Wells recorded her first sides for RCA Victor in 1949.
