Fast-rising country star Casey James debuted his new single 'The Good Life' on 'American Idol' Thursday night (April 4), coming back to the place where it all began.
Casey James' third single from his self-titled debut album is a pleasing three minutes and five seconds, but the toe-tapper is easy to forget. 'The Good Life' lacks the emotional hook that the best carefree country expressions posses.
Casey James is a pretty good dude. The singer spent the month of November growing out his facial hair in support of No Shave November -- a competition that doubles as a St. Jude Children's Hospital fundraiser. But now that it's December, his gruff beard finally had to go.

Luke Bryan proved that he’s one of the hottest country artists on the planet last Friday. The ‘Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye’ singer’s fans mopped up Kelleigh Bannen‘s contingent to make the fourth single from ‘Tailgates on Tanlines’ the new Showdown champion. He’ll face a repeat challenger today and tonight on Taste of Country Nights radio.
‘Crying on a Suitcase’ is one of two songs on Casey James‘ self-titled debut that the singer didn’t help write, but the song doesn’t suffer from any lack of personal connection. It’s a more straightforward, mainstream country song than his previous single ‘Let’s Don’t Call It a Night,’ which leaned more toward soul or blues. James’ delivery here is appropriately urgent.
