Senator Ted Cruz and Sarah Palin have spoken out over the depiction and slaughter of Republicans at a Ted Cruz fundraiser on last Sunday's episode of 'True Blood'.

In the current and final season of 'True Blood', Eric Northman and his progeny Pam are hunting down former preacher's wife Sarah Newlin, who conspired with the Governor of Louisiana and a drug company to create the vampire plague, Hep-V, which Eric is infected with.  Tracking Newlin to her family's home in Dallas, they hope to find her through her parents, who are attending a fundraiser for Senator Ted Cruz.  Turns out that not only Eric and Pam are looking for Sarah as the Japanese mafia, the Yakuza, show up to the party and brutally kill everyone while looking for her.  Senator Cruz later took to Facebook to express his opinion on this "honor",

Of all the places I never thought to be mentioned, HBO’s True Blood vampire show would have to be near the top of the list. Sunday night, they aired a misogynist and profanity-ridden episode where Texas Republicans are murdered attending a “Ted Cruz fundraiser.”

Well, I’m sorry to have lost the vampire vote, but am astonished (and amused) that HBO is suggesting that hard-core leftists are blood-sucking fiends….

Many conservatives have taken issue with the episode, citing the use of stereotypical images of cowboys and fake looking women as Republican supporters, and Pam's comment about her disguise saying she looks like a "Republi-(c word)".  While many have ran with the story of Cruz's dismissal of the reference, Fox News has done their usual making-a-mountain-out-of-a-mole-hill in accusing the show of encouraging violence against conservatives.  Sarah Palin also chimed in, noting that she had actually turned down an opportunity to cameo on the HBO series,

The brilliant minds of 'True Blood' were brazen enough to ask me to do a cameo on their show, apparently so they could insult a conservative woman in person instead of just all conservative women in general.

Their offer wasn't presented in any negative way, perhaps to benefit from a surprise factor after the guest appearance. I turned them down anyway.

To producers who throw these deceitfully 'flattering' bones that sound fun on the surface, is it really any wonder I don't accept your offers to participate in your shows? Nice try HBO. I'd put any mama grizzly in America against a vampire any day; for only one of them actually exists. The left wants to talk about a 'war on women'? Keep engaging in your misogynist attacks on women you disagree with and we'll see who wins your self-inflicted war in the court of decent public opinion.
