Would you like to be happier, drink less, and have more friends? Well, the pathway to achieving those dreams may be easier than you think. Just move somewhere close to your local bar!

Now, you can use science as an excuse for why you need to go out to the bar with your friends.  "Sorry honey, I'd love to Netflix and Chill tonight, but according to this report from the Campaign for Real Ale (Camra), I need to go have some drinks with the boys".

The study, conducted by studying people in pubs in Oxfordshire, UK, found that while we can get a lot out of online interaction with friends, there's more positives that come with face-to-face interactions. At smaller, local bars, people were more likely to engage in conversations with others and improve their social skills. The study also found that these smaller, local bars were a place to easily meet new people and make new friends.

Surprisingly, the study also found that people who frequent their local bar to socialize with their friends were actually less likely to drink in excess. Tim Page, chief executive of Camra, said, "Pubs offer a social environment to enjoy a drink with friends in a responsible, supervised community setting. Nothing is more significant for individuals, the social groupings to which they belong and the country as a whole as our personal and collective wellbeing."

So, celebrate these new scientific discoveries for yourself. Improve your mental health and social skills by getting a drink at a Wichita Falls bar tonight.
