Rascal Flatts Goes To The Derby, Andy Griffith Goes To The Opry – Today In Country Music History

Rascal Flatts had the crowd on their feet before the Kentucky Derby in 2010, Dierks Bentley went to the land down under in 2009 and Andy Griffith debuted on the Grand Ole Opry stage in 1954.

  • Alabama‘s “Mountain Music” peaked at Number One on the Billboard country singles chart in 1982.
  • Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan taped the first installment of The Johnny Cash Show at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium in 1969.
  • Elvis Presley married Priscilla Beaulieu in Las Vegas in 1967.
  • Andy Griffith debuted on the Grand Ole Opry in 1954.
