It may not be for good reasons, but alligators are getting their 15 minutes of fame this week. Everywhere you turn there's a new story about another one. Turns out that even Lawton, Oklahoma is getting in on the alligator news trend.

On Monday morning, Lawton Police responded to a call that was a bit unexpected. It was reported that there was an alligator walking down the road in a neighborhood near Liberty Lake Park.

When officers arrived at the 1900 block of Liberty Avenue, they spotted the small gator and were able to easily detain it. After posing for a couple photos with Officer Chris Daniels, the gator was turned over to animal control.

Though there have been reports of alligators in the Texoma area before, it's not clear at this time how this alligator ended up in the area.
