Following up a No. 1 single is a challenge for any new artist, but Parmalee feel pretty confident about their chances with 'Close Your Eyes.' The track from the group's new 'Feels Like Carolina' album was a no-brainer. In this video premiering exclusively on Taste of Country, singer Matt Thomas says he fell for it the moment he heard it.

The love song is one none of the group's four members had a hand in writing -- something guitarist Josh McSwain jokingly says they regret. Thomas talks about how the song is a perfect fit for them as a group, as well as him as a vocalist. The melody kept him coming back to it again and again.

“Literally if you close your eyes and listen to the song you can see the song happening,” McSwain says in this exclusive behind-the-scenes video, shot by Music City producer Reid Long.

Parmalee is up for some major awards in 2014, including the Best New Artist Award at the 2014 ACMs. Right now, they're semi-finalists, with fans deciding who moves on to the finals.

The North Carolina-raised foursome is also up for New Artist of the Year at the 2014 Taste of Country Awards. Fans have until Feb. 11 to decide the winner in that category.
