I've tried to like lobster. Really, I have. When I was younger, my dad brought home fresh Maine lobster for us. I remember peeking into the cooler to be horrified by the nasty beings encased inside, squirming around, waiting for death...

I've given lobster a try a few times, but I've never been impressed. In fact, I don't really care for any kind of seafood except for fish. All of those shrimp dinners that my mom made, and I didn't truly enjoy one of them.

Like others across the world, Britains enjoy lobster as a fine meal. One was recently caught that has caused a bit of excitement, and is believed to be more than 50 years old.

The massive crustacean measures close to one meter (3 feet) in length and weighs more than 4 kg (9 lb).

"He's a fantastic specimen and by his size alone he has got to be at least 50 years old," said Lindsay Holloway of the Blue Reef aquarium in Portsmouth, southern England where the lobster now lives. "He is an amazing creature and it's quite an achievement to have reached such an impressive age," he added.

While he's not the heaviest lobster on record, this one certainly sounds like an impressive morsel. Regardless, I don't know that I could find it in me to eat him if offered a chance. There's something really undesireable to me about cracking open my dinner. Not that I enjoy lobster anyway.
