A North Texas man whose body was found last Friday may have been struck by the propeller of his own boat.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that 38-year-old Matthew Meinert of Trophy Club died underwater in Denton Creek in Roanoke, TX. Meinert was in his boat with his 2 year-old son on March 6. Authorities believe he may have struck something in the water and was thrown from the boat. It’s believed that Meinert was struck by the propeller on the boat.

Meinert launched his boat at around 5 pm on March 6 from a ramp near Trophy Club. The boat was found on the shore's of Denton Creek by other boaters in the area that evening.

Those individuals called 9-1-1 and a search began. Meinert’s 2 year-old son Oliver was found the next day, cold but otherwise unhurt, when the toddler walked up to a Texas Game Warden searching the area near where the boat was first located.
