Nashville Is Flooded, Clint Black Is Fired – Today In Country Music History

Large parts of Nashville were under water on this date in 2010, The Donald fired Clint Black in 2009 and Taylor Swift got the first of many gold singles back in 2007. Do you remember the name of the song?

  • Flood waters soaked the SoundCheck storage facility in Nashville in 2010, destroying instruments and equipment owned by Brad Paisley, Toby Keith, Vince Gill and Keith Urban. Water from the Cumberland River also flooded Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry House, peaking more than two feet above the venue’s stage.
  • Clint Black was fired by Donald Trump during an episode of NBC’s The Celebrity Apprentice in 2009.
  • Taylor Swift picked up a gold single for her debut, “Tim McGraw,” in 2007.
  • Ricky Van Shelton wrote an open letter to his fans announcing he is retiring from the road in 2006.
  • Patsy Montana died at the age of 83 in 1996.
  • Joe Stampley‘s “Roll On Big Mama” went to Number One in 1974.
  • Kitty Wells recorded the Number One single “It Wasn’t God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels” in 1952.
