Miranda Lambert's Locked and Reloaded tour made a stop in Wichita Falls on Thursday night (Mar 7). Kay Yeager coliseum was a packed house for not only the formal Nashville Star contestant, but also tour mates Lee Brice and Dierks Bentley.

Lee Brice opened the show with a short set consisting of all his big hits, including his current single that’s climbing the charts, “I Drive Your Truck”  His rich, baritone vocals set the pace for a night of rowdy fun and got the crowd ready for the headliners.

Around 8pm Dierks Bentley took the stage. He started out by getting the crowd up and on their feet with upbeat numbers like “5150” and “What was I Thinking.” Half Way through his set he toned it down a notch, stripping down the band to acoustic instruments and doing the title track from his Grammy nominated bluegrass album, Up On The Ridge. Then it was time to get back in party mode for all the girls in white tank tops, with hits like “Tip It On Back” and “Sideways.”

A highlight of Dierks performance was when he reminisced about how he had played in Wichita Falls in a small bar many years ago, and how amazing it was to be playing to a packed house here now. He ended the show by grabbing a guitar from the stage and giving it to a young fan, Taegan Ward, in the crowd. Talk about a keepsake!

Finally it was time for the main event. The lights went dark and a video started playing with the tune of Beyonce’s song “Girls” Suddenly the curtain fell and Miranda Lambert and her band came out swinging with her hit song “Fastest Girl In town.”  The audience was singing along and dancing in the aisles.  Miranda’s set was accentuated with a great multimedia performance involving lights and videos with each song.  Numerous times she would go into a softer song like “The House That Built Me” and have the crowd singing along, then crank it up a notch with a upbeat song like “Gunpowder and Lead,” all the while strumming on her pink guitar.

If you made it to the show, you definitely got your money’s worth. Three of the biggest country stars, all in one place, all playing all their hits. And  even if you didn’t get a guitar as a souvenir like Taegan Ward, you still got to see an amazing show right here in Wichita Falls.
