  • ESPN pulled Hank Williams Jr.‘s “Monday Night Football” theme the same day the singer made a statement on FOX News widely interpreted as comparing president Barack Obama to Adolf Hitler in 2011.
  • An American Carol debuted in movie theaters in 2008 with Trace Adkins playing a ghost in the political satire. Kelsey Grammer, Jon Voight, Dennis Hopper and Leslie Nielsen also starred in the film.

 

 

  • Tim McGraw claimed the top spot on the Billboard country chart with “Where The Green Grass Grows” in 1998.
  • Collin Raye‘s “In This Life” climbed to Number One on the Billboard country chart in 1992.
  • Marty Stuart‘s Hillbilly Rock album was released in 1989.
  • Alabama and Debbie Reynolds were featured on the season premiere of NBC’s Barbara Mandrell & The Mandrell Sisters in 1981.
  • Earl Scruggs suffered a fractured hip in an early-morning automobile accident 15 miles east of Knoxville, Tennessee in 1955. His wife, Louise, and sons Gary and Randy Scruggs were also hurt in the crash.
  • Hank Snow recorded the Number One single, “Let Me Go Lover,” in 1954.
  • Elvis Presley made his first public singing appearance at a talent contest in 1945.
