When a relationship ends, sometimes we’re left with bitter feelings toward the other person. In the case of Clyde Gardner of New York, he had a lot of bitter feelings after his ex-girlfriend broke up with her. He concocted a plan to dress up like a bear in order to kill her.

For some time, Gardner has been stalking her to find out her habits. His original plan had to been to kill a bear, skin it, and dress in its pelt to do the deed. He even went so far as to plan to wear the bear’s paws so as to not leave any human footprints. From there he was going to attack her while she took out her garbage, but that plan got scrapped somewhere along the way.

His next plan was to hire a friend of his with $500 down and the promise of $15,000 in total. He asked the friend to kill her in a car crash, even telling the friend that if the wreck didn’t kill her that he should take cut glass and slit her throat. The friend went to the police, and Gardner has since been arrested.

My question is, what goes through a person’s mind while they’re planning to dress up as a bear in order to commit a murder? Is it an idea that takes shape when one is young? Does it happen while watching a murder mystery? Or is it simply the result of too many drinks at the bar one night?

What do you think of this?
