Remember playing dodgeball when you were in grade school? There were always those who had perfect aim and those who were out after the first throw. The movie Dodgeball reminded us that even into adulthood, you might still encounter jerks on the playing field, but now one man has taken the sport to a whole new level with Trampoline Dodgeball.

The sport was created by Rick Platt, who would like to see it considered a serious sport. He's invested millions into 26 SkyZone trampoline parks around the country and into Canada, culminating in an event this weekend in Los Angeles that's offering up $100,000 in prizes.

How do you play trampoline dodgeball? The rules are a lot like what you're used to, but with a few changes:

  • Two teams of five players each face off against each other at a time.
  • Each game is four minutes in length or until one team has all its players knocked out.
  • If both teams have players at the end of a game, the match goes into sudden death until the first player is knocked out.
  • The team that wins two out of three games goes to the next round.

In looking at the video below, you can see that this is a sport that takes skill, quick reflexes, and athleticism. At the same time, it looks to be a whole lot of fun. This isn't your childhood dodgeball. This is ultimate dodgeball.
