Little Big Town Goes To The Boondocks, Eric Church Goes Home – Today In Country Music History

Eric Church went Home on this date in 2011, Little Big Town was hanging out in the Boondocks in 2006 and Steve Holy sang at a Valentine’s Day mass marriage in Virginia back in 2002.

  • Eric Church’s “Homeboy” was released to radio in 2011.
  • Keith Anderson performed for 33 couples at a mass wedding ceremony at Grand Affairs in Virginia Beach in 2010.
  • Diamond Rio performed at Kunsan Air Force Base, beginning a 10-day tour of South Korea where they entertained American troops, in 2006.
  • The Recording Industry Association of America awarded a gold single for Little Big Town‘s “Boondocks” in 2006.
  • Forty couples were married in a mass Valentine’s Day ceremony in Newport News, Virginia in 2002 where Steve Holy sang his hit “Good Morning Beautiful” for the couples’ first dance.
  • Hal Ketchum married Gina Pacconi at the Grace Methodist Church, in Austin, Texas in 1998.
  • The Recording Industry Association of America certified Alan Jackson‘s “Who I Am” album double-platinum in 1995.
  • Kathy Mattea wed songwriter Jon Vezner in 1988.
  • Randy Travis signed a recording contract with Warner Bros. in 1985, two weeks after recording “On The Other Hand.”
  • Charly McClain claimed a Number One country single with “Who’s Cheatin’ Who” in 1981.
  • Merle Haggard recorded “The Fightin’ Side Of Me” in 1970.
  • Eddy Arnold attended a special White House dinner at the request of the President’s daughter, Lynda Bird Johnson, in 1967. Eddy barely made it in time, after getting stuck in an elevator.
