During the recent flooding, Lawton Animal Welfare stepped up and rescued over 100 dogs in Lawton, Oklahoma in 5 days. Since then, only about half of the rescued animals have been claimed by their owners. Now, they need your help to find forever homes for these pups.

The shelter was already full before the flooding, so having room for and taking care of over 100 extra dogs isn't something they can do for much longer. They posted the video above to their Facebook page showing some of the dogs and how they are having to double them up in kennels to make space.

To help make it easier, they have lowered their adoption fee to only $15 for this whole week. The adoption fee covers the fact that your new dog (unless it's a puppy and not old enough yet) has all its shots, been spayed or neutered, and has been micro-chipped. It also includes 30-day vet insurance which will cover costs if they get sick after being adopted. There is also a $5 processing fee, but that is the only additional cost.

For only $20 total, you could give a desperately needed forever home to one of these dogs. Lawton Animal Welfare is located at 2104 S.W. 6th Street in Lawton, Oklahoma. They are open from 11:00 am - 6:00 pm Tuesday through Friday and 10:00 am - 2:00 pm on Saturday. You can give them a call at 580-581-3219.

If you or someone you know has been thinking about getting a dog, there's no better time than now. Be a hero to these displaced pups and get your new furry friend this week.
