The audience at the Allegan County Fair in Michigan got to experience a rare colliding of worlds Sept. 17, when Lady Antebellum invited breakout star Cam to join them onstage for a throwback cover performance. The band delighted fans with the Dixie Chicks hit “Cowboy Take Me Away,” and shared a clip from the show on social media afterward.

In the clip, Cam is taking the melody, and nailing the vocals as Lady A provide backing vocals and a stripped-down, mellow version of the track.

Cam herself was ecstatic to sing with the band, according to her post on Instagram afterward:

The show was one of Lady Antebellum’s last on their 65-city Wheels Up Tour, which ends on Saturday (Sept. 19) in Camden, N.J. They hit cities around the U.S. with Hunter Hayes and Sam Hunt in tow, and it sounds like they’ve had a blast every step of the way.

“It’s hard to believe that we’re in the last weekend of this tour after checking off so many bucket list moments with this show,” Charles Kelley comments in a press release. “The tour was our dream come true, and it’s hard to really sum up exactly how much that means to us. We’re looking forward to spending a lot of time this winter writing new music — and we can’t wait for the next chapter of Lady A.”

The band is growing steadily as each member adds new, smaller members to the group — first, Hillary Scott with her little girl, then Dave Haywood with his son, and now Kelley has a baby on the way. It’s probably safe to say they could use a little time off after such a hectic tour schedule.

“We’ve just made so many albums in such a short period of time, and we’re proud of them, and what we’ve done in our career, and what we’ve said with them — but we’ve never given ourselves the gift of time,” Scott states. “So, that’s what this next season is for us, spending time with our families, and really relishing in this successful year for us, and focusing on where we’re headed next.”

Cam, on the other hand, is just getting started. The artist recently joined up with Chase Rice’s JD and Jesus tour on select dates, and made her debut on Good Morning America with her single “Burning House” — not to mention got engaged. Her debut EP is picking up momentum and making Cam one of the most talked-about up-and-comers in country music right now. She’s been hitting festivals this summer, but will also be joining Little Big Town for select dates this fall.
