The last time Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw hit the road together was more than 10 years ago in the early 2000s, with McGraw primarily headlining. Now, the two country stars who have seen their careers shoot them into international stardom are at it again, gearing up for their 2012 Brothers of the Sun Tour, which kicks off in Tampa, Fla. on June 2 and runs for 19 days.

In a recent interview with Billboard, Chesney opened up about the forthcoming tour and what fans and ticket-holders can expect to see at their summer shows. Dressed in a T-shirt with a baseball cap where his cowboy hat usually sits, Chesney seemed super excited about what the summer holds for him and his longtime friend McGraw.

“It’s not necessarily going to be the kind of show where you would come and buy something to eat and drink and sit down and enjoy the evening,” the ‘Feel Like a Rock Star‘ singer promises. “Like always, we try to make it as energetic and as fun couple of hours as possible, and this year’s not going to change.”

Chesney says his entire career has developed and changed since he last took the stage with McGraw for a string of dates a decade ago, but insists that he’s going to prepare for this tour just as he does for any other stadium run.

“My whole life has changed since the last time I toured with Tim,” Chesney admits. “I think when we do our first show in Tampa this year, it will be my 70th stadium show, so that’s all happened since then. I won’t want to approach this summer any differently than I approached the last 10 tours that we’ve done. The work ethic’s still the same. The idea of trying to give everybody their money’s worth and having it be an unbelievable night of music and a moment of their summer that’s going to stand out – that’s what our job is … so the idea of preparing for this is no different than any other.”

The Brothers of the Sun Tour will also feature appearances from Grace Potter and the Nocturnals — Potter who you know from Chesney’s ‘You and Tequila’ — as well as Jake Owen.
