Keith Urban’s new single ‘Somewhere in My Car’ is an uptempo, guitar-driven breakup song that recalls some of his earlier hits. Sonically, the pop-friendly rocker is similar to ‘Days Go By’ and ‘Who Wouldn’t Wanna Be Me.’ Lyrically, it's closer to 'We Were Us.'

Urban is compiling quite a collection of car songs, and this one again finds him out on an open road. He’s doing his best to forget a breakup, and it’s working to some extent.

“But in my mind, we’re somewhere in my car / And it's raining hard on the streetlight glow / You got your lips on mine, it’s gasoline on fire / I never will forget, you grabbed my shirt and pulled it over my head / And your fingertips slide up and down my back,” he sings at the chorus, before reality sets in: “Breathin' hard, steamin' up the glass / I’d give anything if I could bring you back home.”

His lover left him for another, and his luck has been lousy since. Urban is capable of diving into heartbreak, but this song remains buoyant from the first note. “I'm driving home tonight, catching all red lights / That’s alright ‘cause I don't want to be alone,” he sings to begin ‘Somewhere in My Car.’

One can't ignore his guitar solo. It screams '80s rock, while the rest of the song is distinctively modern. The new "modern" comes with a strong '80s influence, however, and 'Somewhere in My Car' rides blissfully along in that niche.

Why Fans Will Love It: The sound is classic Keith Urban -- uptempo, guitar-driven with a touch of pain and regret.

Key Lyrics: "But in my mind, we’re somewhere in my car / And it's raining hard on the streetlight glow / You got your lips on mine, it’s gasoline on fire / I never will forget, you grabbed my shirt and pulled it over my head / And your fingertips slide up and down my back"

Did You Know?: Songwriter J.T. Harding helped Urban pen this song. While he's had a few hits (including Jake Owen's 'Alone With You'), he's not as well-known as many writers Urban works with regularly.
