Keith Urban has won Grammys, toured the globe and released more hit singles than he can count on two hands, but there’s one thing the country megastar had never done — until now, that is. For the first time in his career, Urban took on the challenge of writing and releasing a song specifically for a movie. Collaborating with hit songwriter Monty Powell, he co-wrote the a song called ‘For You’ for the Navy SEAL action thriller ‘Act of Valor,’ in theaters Feb. 24.

“After seeing ‘Act Of Valor,’ my co-writer and I wanted to capture the essence of not only what these men and women do so extraordinarily, but how that relates to all of us,” Urban said in a press release. “‘Valor’ shows us what they are willing to give their all for, which made me wonder, ‘What am I willing to give my life for?’ ‘For You’ is intended to allow the listener to define who that is for them.”

The past few months have been busy ones for Urban, who had throat surgery in late November, went on complete vocal rest for three weeks and already announced a small set of concert dates for 2012. Since recovering from his surgery, Urban has yet to do a live performance, and his first scheduled performance as of right now is a Feb. 10 appearance in Austin, Texas. That show, taking place the night before his San Antonio tour date, will raise funds for the Beyond Batten Disease Foundation.

The Aussie was also recently nominated for International Artist and Music Video of the Year awards for Australia’s 2012 Country Music Channel Awards.
