Kacey Musgraves is one of the loveliest -- and spunkiest -- ladies in country music. So, who will have the enviable job of being on her arm as her escort to the 2013 CMA Awards?

Well, it won't be a gentleman -- Musgraves reveals that her grandmother will serve as her date!

"I'm over the moon about the nominations and how country music has welcomed me," the singer, who is up for six 2013 CMAs, exclusively tells Taste of Country and WYRK's Clay Moden. She adds that she is trying to be present and have fun amidst all the chaos that comes with major country music awards shows -- especially difficult when you're one of the most nominated artists next to not-so-newcomer Taylor Swift.

It's a big leap forward from last year's event, though.

Musgraves recalls, "This has been a crazy first year. Last year, I went as a fan to the show. This year will be different. My grandma is going to be my date to the awards."

"She's probably more excited than I am ... I am really excited," the 'Follow Your Arrow' songstress jokes.

While catching up with Moden during CMAs Week, the 'Blowin' Smoke' singer also spoke about her approach to songwriting, saying it's really simple since it comes from a place of experience.

"If you create a song that you believe in and you sing it because you believe in it or it happened to you, it's going to resonate with people no matter what," she spills, "So you don't have to think about what people are going to like. They are going to like it if it's truthful and if it comes from a real place. They can tell."

Musgraves also says she won't write or sing what she doesn't know. "If it's not something I wouldn't say, then I absolutely won't say it."

The 2013 CMA Awards air Wednesday (Nov. 6) at 8PM ET on ABC.
