Jon Pardi’s sophomore album, California Sunrise, debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Country Albums chart following its release on June 17.

Pardi's newest project sold 23,708 units, with total consumption reaching 29,233, in its first week out. California Sunrise, which features Pardi's gold-certified song "Head Over Boots," was recorded with a live band -- something that was very important to the singer.

“I always want to have the traditional country soul while meeting the new standards of country music,” Pardi says. “As with traditional country music, much of the appeal comes from a compelling narrative. As a songwriter, we’re looking for a good story, and we’re always looking to push the limits. I love having those lyrics that at first make you think it’s about one thing, but it’s really about something so much more.”

Since his debut record, Write You a Song, Pardi has been keen on proving that he's one to watch in country music. After he wrapped up a touring run with Alan Jackson in 2015, the country icon said, “Of all the new guys I’ve heard, I like that Jon is closer to country than most of the others, and I think his songwriting is better than what I’ve heard in a while.”

Pardi will be guesting on Kip Moore's Me and My Kind Tour this fall; the trek kicks off on Sept. 30 and runs through Dec. 8. For more information on upcoming shows, visit Pardi's official website.
