Johnny Paycheck Gets Out Of Prison, Lady Antebellum Runs – Today In Country Music History [VIDEO]

Lady Antebellum was Running To You on this date in 2009, Johnny Paycheck was released from prison in 1991 after serving two years of a seven year sentence and Country Music got its very first platinum album in 1976. Can you guess what it was?

  • LadyAntebellum‘s “I Run To You” was released to radio in 2009.
  • Garth Brooks climbed to Number One on the Billboard country singles chart with “Unanswered Prayers” in 1991.
  • Johnny Paycheck was released from an Ohio prison in 1991 after serving two years for shooting a man in a Hillsboro, Ohio, bar during December 1985. He was originally sentenced to seven years.
  • Wilma Lee & Stoney Cooper joined the Grand Ole Opry in 1957.
  • Johnnie & Jack recorded “Hank Williams Will Live Forever” just days after the legend’s death in 1953.
  • Wanted! The Outlaws, country’s first platinum album, was released in 1976.
