Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon Walk, Merle Haggard Wonders – Today In Country Music History [VIDEO]

Toby Keith was certified triple and quadruple platinum in 2004, Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon Walked The Line in 2006 and Merle Haggard wondered if he’d Make It Through December back in 1973.

Here’s the list for Today In Country Music History for 16 January, 2012.

  • The Recording Industry Association of America issued a gold album for Taylor Swift in 2007.
  • The Johnny Cash biopic Walk The Line collected three Golden Globes, including Best Musical or Comedy and Best actor wins for Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon, in 2006.
  • Unleashed became the first Toby Keith album certified quadruple-platinum, while his Shock’n Y’all album reached triple-platinum status in 2004.
  • Alan Jackson‘s single “Right On The Money” hit Number One in 1999.
  • Alabama‘s Roll On album was released in 1984.
  • Ronnie Milsap climbed to Number One on the Billboard country chart with “I Wouldn’t Have Missed It For The World” in 1982.
  • Merle Haggard recorded “If We Make It Through December” in 1973.
