New casting rumors for the upcoming Superman/Batman film are that not only is Jaimie Alexander out of the running for Wonder Woman, but three other actresses might be screen testing for the role.

Rumors have been circulating this week about Thor star Jaimie Alexander playing Wonder Woman after Alexander referenced having first-hand knowledge of the upcoming Superman/Batman team-up as well as being in talks with Warner Bros. for an upcoming superhero film.  However, it has been revealed that due to Alexander’s attachment to another Thor project for Marvel, she’d be unable to accept a part in a competing film franchise.

Now Variety is reporting that three new actresses have screen tested or will be screen testing soon for a role believed to be Wonder Woman.  Sources say Fast and Furious actress Gal Gadot, G.I. Joe: Retaliation star Elodie Yung, and Quantum of Solace Bond girl Olga Kurylenko are all in the running for a role described as, “tall, brunette, athletic, and exotic.”  While rumors are this could merely be casting for the role of Bruce Wayne’s girlfriend, this description can also be used to describe the Amazonian Princess.

Getting a live-action Wonder Woman off the ground has seemed impossible since Lynda Carter’s television run in the 70s.  The Avengers director Joss Whedon was tapped by Warner Bros and DC Comics a decade ago to write and direct a Wonder Woman film, but disputes between Whedon and the studio resulted in the project being cancelled.  A pilot for a Wonder Woman television series was filmed for NBC with another G.I. Joe: Retaliation star, Adrianne Palicki, as the title character.  The pilot received such a bad response that it was never aired and NBC has done everything possible to keep its footage off the internet.

Apart from Wonder Woman, it is believed that another member of the Justice League, The Flash, is set to appear in the Superman/Batman film, slated for release on July 17, 2015.
