It's about to get Western with Cowboy True at the Kemp Center For The Arts and the Kemp At The Forum this Thursday, Friday and Saturday!

The whole shebang kicks off Thursday evening with Texas troubadour, Mike Blakely,  in the Great Room at the Kemp Center for the Arts.

I've had the pleasure of hearing Mike perform on a couple of occasions and if you like Texas, cowboys (the ones on horses, not the ones on the football field), horses,  songs that tell stories, richly described characters and the history of the Lone Star State, you're gonna LOVE Mike Blakely's music Thursday evening!

But that's just the start of a three day event taking place at the Kemp Center For The Arts at 1300 Lamar downtown and the Kemp At The Forum at 2120 Speedway.

Cowboy True is all about celebrating the cowboy heritage still ongoing in North Texas. There's An Evening With Will Rogers (featuring Will Rogers tribute artist, Earl Bates) Friday night at The Forum, there's a Round Up with an authentic Chuck Wagon dinner and more live music on Saturday night and there's the Cowboy True Art Exhibit and Sale from 10:00am to 5:00pm Saturday at the Forum. The exhibit will feature spurs, buckles, saddles, boots and more that are not only an essential part of the true cowboy life, but often function as the canvas for amazing western art.

The daytime Art Exhibit at The Forum is free to the public, you'll have to buy a ticket to attend the evening events.

This is the first event of it's kind in Wichita Falls and the Kemp Center For The Arts hopes to make it the first in a long series of events celebrating the cowboys who had the vision and grit to set up homes and communities in North Texas.

Here's some amateur video of Mike performing his songs about Texas in Switzerland!
