The 9th Annual Crawds & Rods crawfish boil and car show is set for this weekend in Elgin, just north of Lawton on I-44. Anthony 'Flip' DeFilippo came by the Townsquare Media Lawton studios Thursday morning with Elgin Fire Chief Mike Baker to fill us in on the details.

Along with the car show and crawfish boil, they have a carnival, burn-out contest, poker run and live music all day Saturday. Registration for the car show is 8 to 11 Saturday morning, cost is $25. Poker run registration is from 9 to 11 with a cost of $20 for the first hand. The highlight of this year's Crawds & Rods is the giveaway of a '33 Factory 5 Hot Rod. Raffle tickets are $100 each and only 500 will be sold. All donations collected at this event go to support the Elgin Fire Department's Fire Safety programs in local schools.

There will, of course, be lots of food. Crawfish (fresh from Louisiana) and hamburgers will be served starting at 11 Saturday morning. Flip told us that the first year of this event they prepared 900 lbs of crawfish. This year they're cooking up 2600 lbs - an indication of how much this event has grown over the years.
