Good Rainfall Totals In Crucial Areas For Wichita Falls
Wednesday’s thunderstorms gave North Texas and Southern Oklahoma plenty of variety. In addition to the tornado near Burkburnett, residents reported hail from nickel to golf ball size from Seymour to Vernon and across the Red River into Oklahoma.
Daryl Williams with the National Weather Service Office in Norman says the watershed area for Lake Kickapoo and Lake Arrowhead received some of the more impressive rainfall totals, with 1.51 inches reported at Kickapoo and 1.35 inches reported at Arrowhead.
Russell Schreiber, Public Works Director for the City of Wichita Falls says that while cloud seeding did take place yesterday, the storm that spawned the Burkburnett tornado was not the one which was seeded. Only storms that are going to affect the watershed area will be seeded. ‘It’s actually against the law for us to seed a storm that’s deemed severe. If it’s severe, you’re grounded’, Schreiber tells News Talk 1290.
More rain is expected for Texoma next week.
