The Color Run 5k is said to be the Happiest 5k on the Planet, and it delivers. Registration is open for the race, which will be held September 7 starting at the MPEC. The event benefits Habitat for Humanity of Wichita Falls.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Color Run, they only have one rule – you need to be wearing a white shirt at the start of the race. From there, colored chalk is splattered onto runners at intervals during the race, creating a human canvas of color. You can choose to be directly in the line of fire to get more color or stay out of the direct line so you aren’t completely covered at the end of the race.

When everything is said and done there’s a color cloud at the finish line, with participants throwing more color into the air for a fun and messy effect.

If you’ve never run a 5k or don’t feel that you’re up to it, don’t let that discourage you! Though it’s called a “run,” you can walk the entire thing if you choose. People of all ages and sizes take part in the event, and it’s all about having fun.

If you’re thinking about joining in, don’t wait too long! Registration has sold out in other cities and you don’t want to miss out on this. Early registration is going on until July 15th, so you can save a few bucks on the fee. Get registered at the official Color Run 5k - Wichita Falls site.
