Legends George Strait, Garth Brooks Take on the Ice Bucket Challenge [Watch]
Two of the most impressive names in all of country music have risen to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. King George Strait and Mr. Garth Brooks were called out by several of their peers, and they both made good on the dare.
Leave it to the King to do his ice bucket challenge in front of a gorgeous mountain. In a fun video, Strait is seen at the head of the gorgeous scenery — in shorts and hatless, no yet — ready to accept his fate.
“Alright, well, I’m George Strait and it looks like I’ve been nominated or chosen to do the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge by my friends Eric Church and Ronnie Dunn,” the legend says. “I’m accepting the challenge, but I also want to challenge Martina McBride, c’mon girl, and Governor Rick Perry, Governor of the great state of Texas and also my friend Dean Dillon.”
“Alright, I am ready,” Strait says as he calmly allows a big bucket of water to be dumped all over him. He lets out a sigh, but remains stoic as ever — something only the King could do when covered in icy water.
Garth Brooks, nominated by Nancy O’Dell of ‘ET,’ also took on the challenge bravely — in true Brooks style. The singer completed it on a stage with a ‘G,’ holding his guitar and wearing a cowboy hat.
“It’s an honor to accept your ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, especially it is very much a wonderful honor of mine to accept it in your beautiful mother Betty’s name,” Brooks says, giving a shoutout to Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard from Florida Georgia Line and Zac Brown Band, who also challenged him.
Before completing the task, Brooks nominated the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Pirates and the Pittsburgh Penguins, adding that together they all should “raise some money for ALS.”
“Alright, guys. Let’s get this this over with,” the icon adds. “I love you Nancy!”
Then, Brooks gets dumped by two big buckets of Gatorade! Thankfully, his head stayed dry thanks to that big ol’ hat.
