Israeli actress Gal Gadot, best known as Giselle in the Fast & Furious series, has officially been cast as Wonder Woman in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel.

Gadot will be joining Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman in the Man of Steel follow-up, currently untitled though referred to as Superman vs. Batman (and vice versa), which is rumored to include appearances by other Justice League characters like the Flash.  With the announcement of Gadot’s casting, director Zack Snyder said,

Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character.

The former Miss Israel was one of three actresses confirmed to be screen testing just a few weeks ago for a then-undisclosed role.   G.I. Joe: Retaliation star Elodie Yung, and Quantum of Solace Bond girl Olga Kurylenko were the other two contenders for the Amazonian Princess, a role once rumored to be going to Thor star Jaime Alexander.  Gadot will be the first live-action representation of Wonder Woman since Lynda Carter’s iconic 70s television show, apart from NBC's failed pilot a few years back.
