Faith Hill Kissed her way to the top of the Country music charts on this date in 1998, Kenny Chesney entertained the President of the United States and the Prime Minister of Australia in 2006, George Strait was Unwound in 1981 and more.

  • David Nail made his Grand Ole Opry debut in 2009.
  • Kenny Chesney performed for president George W. Bush and Australian prime minister John Howard at the White House in 2006.
  • Trisha Yearwood played a forensics expert on CBS-TV’s JAG in 2000.
  • Faith Hill‘s “This Kiss” hit Number One on the country singles chart in 1998.
  • Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt, and Emmylou Harris scored a Number One country single with Phil Spector‘s “To Know Him Is To Love Him” in 1987.
  • George Strait made his first appearance on the chart with his first single, “Unwound,” in 1981.
  • Alabama released their first RCA single, “Tennessee River,” in 1980.
  • Merle Haggard recorded the Number One single “Workin’ Man Blues” in 1969.
