  • Vince Gill‘s “One More Last Chance” topped the Billboard country singles chart in 1993.
  • Alan Jackson‘s A Lot About Livin’ (And A Little ‘Bout Love) album was released in 1992.
  • Hank Thompson was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1989.
  • Merle Haggard & George Jones took the Willie Nelson song, “Yesterday’s Wine,” to Number One on the Billboard country chart in 1982.
  • Dolly Parton’s dress split as she walked off with the Country Music Association’s Entertainer of the Year award during the 12th annual ceremony at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry House in 1978.
  • Louis Marshall (“Grandpa”) Jones was inducted into Country Music Hall of Fame in 1978.
  • The Nashville Songwriters Hall Of Fame inducted Kris Kristofferson, Woody Guthrie, Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash in 1977.
  • Elvis & Priscilla Presley divorced in 1973.
  • Conway Twitty & Loretta Lynn recorded their first duet, “After the Fire Is Gone,” in 1970.
  • Eddy Arnold‘s Number One single, “Make The World Go Away,” hit the charts in 1965.
  • Little Jimmy Dickens‘ Number One single, “May The Bird of Paradise Fly Up Your Nose,” charted in 1965.
