The Dallas Cowboys are celebrating with leaders of the Dallas suburb of Frisco and the Frisco Independent School District after approval was given to build a $115 million indoor stadium and relocate the team headquarters and training facility location to a 91-acre area of land in Frisco located on the northwest corner of the Dallas North Tollway and Warren Parkway.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and son Stephen Jones flew in from training camp in Oxnard, CA Tuesday morning (Aug 13) for a press conference officially announcing the 25-year agreement and plans to move the team to the new site. During the press conference, it was said that a 12,000-seat indoor stadium, two outdoor fields, corporate offices, retail and restaurant outlets and a luxury hotel will be built on the lot in Frisco. The projected date for the Cowboys to move to this site is Fall 2016.

Jerry Jones said, “This is an exciting day in the history of the Dallas Cowboys. We are committed to cooperatively creating a development that will be a source of great pride for the City of Frisco, the FISD and the Dallas Cowboys. We know first-hand how world class facilities can create great interest, visibility and economic development. This is a community building partnership that will elevate and benefit all of the parties involved.”

In addition, the agreement between the Dallas Cowboys and the city of Firsco also calls for at least one week per year of Cowboys training camp to be held in Frisco.

Frisco Mayor Maher Maso made a statement saying, “We’re elated to partner the entire Dallas Cowboys organization and the Jones family. Having a partner of this caliber is a perfect fit for our community. We’re committed to creating unique, destinations that bring families together, promote business and tourism, attract major events and improve our overall quality of life while keeping our property taxes low. We welcome ‘America’s Team’ to one of the fastest growing cities in the country.”

Frisco ISD will also use the new indoor stadium for athletics and other events.

The Dallas Cowboys have been operating out of their current Valley Ranch headquarters located in Irving, Texas since August 27, 1985.
