For 11 seasons, ‘American Idol’ has ignored country music when it comes to the judges panel. But with Steven Tyler announcing his ‘Idol’ departure on Thursday, it’s time to make things right. Stars like Blake Shelton and Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland have proven that Nashville has artists capable of shining on a nationally-televised stage. Which country artist do you think would be the perfect fit to replace Tyler on ‘American Idol?’

Included in today’s readers poll are five artists that have a special blend of mass appeal and willingness to pursue alternative career paths. Shania Twain has spent time on ‘American Idol,’ even guest judging in 2010. Keith Urban just finished a stint as a coach on the Australian version of ‘The Voice.’ Toby Keith would be a controversial pick, but no doubt entertaining each week. And Tim McGraw and Faith Hill have proven they can carry their star power to Hollywood, with roles in movies over the last decade.

If there is an artist from country music that you think would make a better replacement for Steven Tyler on ‘American Idol,’ tell us about it in the comments section below.
