Carrie Underwood Feels Small, Faith Hill Gets Kiss – Today In Country Music History [VIDEO]

Carrie Underwood was So Small, but she was at the top of the charts on this date in 2007, Faith Hill’s Kiss turned music into platinum in 1998 and Buck Owens had a Tiger By The Tail in 1964.

  • Lady Antebellum earned six nominations for “Need You Now” at the 53rd annual Grammy Awards in 2010, including Record, Song and Album of the Year, plus Best Country Song, Country Album and Country Performance by a Duo or Group.
  • Carrie Underwood‘s “So Small” climbed to the top of the Billboard country chart in 2007.
  • Ricky Skaggs and The Whites performed at the lighting of the national Christmas tree in Washington, D.C. in 2005.
  • “Lonely Grill” became Lonestar‘s first triple-platinum album in 2000.
  • Faith Hill‘s “This Kiss” earned a platinum single in 1998.
  • Deana Carter‘s Everything’s Gonna Be Alright album was certified gold in 1998.
  • Out With A Bang became the first gold album for David Lee Murphy in 1995.
  • Anne Murray‘s “Broken Hearted Me” went to Number One on the Billboard country singles chart in 1979.
  • Merle Haggard recorded “Swinging Doors” at the Capitol Recording Studios in Hollywood in 1965.
  • Buck Owens recorded “I’ve Got A Tiger By The Tail” and “Cryin’ Time” in an afternoon session at the Capitol Recording Studios in Hollywood in 1964.
  • Dottie West debuted on the chart with “Let Me Off At The Corner” in 1963.
